Ezekiel 26 (résumé): A prophecy against Tyre

Now starts a series of prophecies against the wealthy Phoenician city of Tyre which it thought would be benefitted by Jerusalem's downfall. "She lays in ruins", they gloated, "so we will prosper". So God in retribution says "I will bring many nations against you... they will destroy the walls of Tyre... and will become plunder for the nations". So God chooses Nebuchadnezzar to lead the charge against Tyre and "he will ravage your settlements... he will bring battering rams against them... and they will plunder your wealth... and break down your walls... leaving just bare rock to dry the fishing nets!" So the whole region was shocked by the fall of Tyre... "the coastlands tremble on the day of your fall". "I will bring you to a horrible end and you will be no more.... to never again be found".
