Acts 27 (résumé): Paul sails for Rome

Eventually Paul was put on a ship to Italy together with some other prisoners. Stopping at Sidon the centurion Julius let Paul visit friends and then they sailed on to Myra where they changed ships. Progress was difficult and Paul warned of disaster ahead, but the centurion wouldn't listen. Then off the coast of Crete they met a hurricane and the situation became so grave that "we finally gave up all hope of being saved". Paul then prophesied that nobody would die but the ship would be lost "and run aground on some island". This indeed happened and all 276 people on board survived with many swimming to land and others floating to safety on planks.
