Luke 23 (résumé): The Crucifixion

Jesus was now led before Pilate who asked him if he was the king of the Jews and Jesus said yes, but this was not a basis for a charge against the Lord, but as he was from Galilee he was sent before Herod who sent him back to Pilate. Neither Herod nor Pilate found anything against Jesus but the crowd insisted on his crucifixion and the release of the murderer Barabbas in his place, so Pilate "surrendered Jesus to their will". Then Jesus was crucified together with 2 criminals and Jesus prayed: "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing". The rulers "sneered at Jesus... and the soldiers mocked him... with a written notice above him that he was the king of the Jews". One criminal on one of the crosses insulted Jesus, but the other said: "remember me when you come into your kingdom... and Jesus answered that today you will be with me in paradise". Then there was a period of darkness for 3 hours after which Jesus committed his spirit to the Father and breathed his last, and then Jesus was buried.
