Having written the résumés of the 50 chapters of Genesis the whole story reminds me of so many stories I heard from my Sunday School teachers at Peniel Chapel as a child. Creation, the Fall, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, the Ark and the Flood, the Tower of Babel, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sodom and Gomorrah, Jacob wrestles with God, Laban, Lot, Esau and Joseph. Women receive a lot less attention in Genesis than the men but there are Sarah, Hagar, Leah, Rachel, Lot's wife, Rebekah, Dinah and Tamar which stick in my mind. It has been a joy re-travelling through the book of Genesis.
One particular story sticks in my mind linked to Lot's wife when I was 6-years-old. My mother was in the maternity hospital giving birth to my younger sister Joy and my elder sister Jean and I were being looked after by a sister from the church called Mrs. Hurst. One day our budgerigar said: "Remember Lot's wife!" and Mrs. Hurst thought at first that it was God speaking to her! 😂
