Donkeys

Donkeys are being massacred in Brazil owing to the high demand in China for a substance found under their skin which is used in traditional Chinese medicine. In 1996 there were 1,370,000 donkeys in Brazil and now there are only 78,000 left, which is a reduction of 94%. It is estimated that over the next 5 years donkeys will become extinct in Brazil.

In the World Cup of Football Clubs all 4 Brazilian teams are through to the last 16 of the competition: Palmeiras, Botafogo, Flamengo (Philip's team) and Fluminense. There are 2 English teams: Chelsea and Manchester City. The final will be on July 13th. I now hear that Palmeiras from Brazil and Chelsea from England have got through to the last 8.

It's lovely to see a couple from the Patos church, Roberto Tiburtino and his wife Daguia, going out doing door-to-door evangelism every Friday evening. Please pray for this couple.

Please pray for Pastor João George who is the assistant pastor at our Imaculada church. He has been diagnosed with intestinal cancer and will undergo surgery.

Next Saturday, July 5th, my sister and expert music teacher Jean will be holding her annual afternoon of musical talent when her pupils will perform and raise money for EAB. Please be there if you can.
