This chapter starts by presenting the sons of Israel (Jacob): Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
Then the focus is on Judah and the genealogical tree that leads to King David. God's historical plan is traced through the tribe of Judah showing the faithfulness of God to his people. Caleb is emphasized too.
