I led the service on Sunday night, dedicated a 2-year-old lovely little boy called Arthur, and preached on 'Jesus is Light' based on Isaiah 9:2-7 etc. Whilst the sermon was Christmas based it also confronted superstition, which is widespread here, and condemned racism which is also sadly prevalent. The service was good and the sermon was well received. The church was as full as is possible under the pandemic limitations which by law limit us to 70% capacity.
We have been defining things for our baptismal service. The service will take place this coming Sunday morning, Boxing Day, at 8.30 am at Green Pastures. There are 14 on the list to be baptized and we already have 5 people on a waiting list for mid-2022. Assistant Pastor Rafael and I will be baptizing together.
Our Christmas Eve service will start at 7:30 pm (10.30 pm UK time) and it will be transmitted on Facebook and YouTube. The service will feature a quartet singing a carol, accompanied by ballet dancers Alice and Millena. Then there will be a presentation of another carol by the Deaf Fellowship and sign language interpreters. Then there will be the presentation of a one act Nativity Play by our Drama group (we're keeping numbers of participants to a low number owing to the pandemic). Gifts will be given to the children at the end.
At the weekend 3 women came to the Lord and made commitments to Christ at our São Vicente do Seridó church. 3 further women gave their lives to Jesus at our Soledade church. Please pray for these women that they might put down spiritual roots in God.
My right arm is empty this morning as I have had blood taken for my routine tests. The laboratory nurse arrived at our house at 6:30 am, but my arm should fill up soon! 😉
